Simply put, a hot mess at a young age!
How does one become a hot mess by the ripe old age of 6? Well it surely wasn’t the life of silver spoons and glamour but all things considered it could have been worse.
A quick glimpse, but ground rules first, no need for tears and sympathy cause it’s just life left behind with bigger fish begging to be fried.
Around 2 1/2, lost my dad to a drunk driver; he was buried on my Mom’s birthday. Fast forward to 4, one-armed papaw pulls the trigger on mamaw but the bullet finds my mom. God willing mom lives, papaw goes away and it’s just us 3. But not for long cause cancer takes mamaw at 6. Now it’s just mom and me or so I thought. Somewhere in there Mom meets Lucky the robber, then we move on to Dicky the electrician, and by 10 we kinda settle in with Buddy the welder.
I am Sonora Jean Barham Storm and want to share a quick peek at Life + Love.
Stories reflecting on life, love and experiences shaped by a crazy past and a newfound love. This whole process is going to be quite interesting since I’m not a writer, correct, I’m not a writer but hopefully the mere content will hook you to take the journey.
Should I be blessed (before I would have used lucky but does luck really have anything to do with anything) enough to have readers, I want to hear from them. My articles will hopefully encourage others to think about themselves and their lives and create a desire to engage and chat; there’s even plans for contests here and there.
It is with Eiffel Tower sized hope that my chosen and accumulated words will become so motivating and encouraging that someone somewhere will be inspired in some wonderful shape, form or fashion to go forward and do great things for themselves and others. Now that’s a whale of goal right there.
I’m a native Texas girl born in Pasadena and raised in Galena Park. I grew up the youngest of 9 but for most of those years lived as an only child. In my early 20’s, a call from my grandmother landed me another brother. A few years later 10 turned to 11 and by my mid 30’s it became 12. Oh yes, there’s stories, many, many stories.
Rewinding to my late teens, I met a wonderful young man, John Storm; he truly did and still does make it well with my soul.
How did I know he was the one? Could one say we were destined? Ummm, I do! It’s not by chance that my highschool friend would arrange an introduction of his new college buddy who just happened to be the younger brother of my newly found friend. Oh yes, a fun little story to save for later.
Dreams can take some time and boy did this one; 10 years and 8 months to the date before we finally said I do. It’s been good, bad and everything in between. Our 2 best wins are 25 years of marriage and our son, Sterling, graduating from Texas A&M, May 2020.
There’s so much more in store so please subscribe. Ok?!?
